Event Description

What Lies Ahead for Federal Funding in 2017?

There is still no clear direction on where federal funding will go for FY2017, despite continued noise from the Trump administration. The President has said that he may cut or divert about $100 million in discretionary funding that the Department of Education distributes each year in a variety of grants competitions. The release of FY 2017 federal funding solicitations has decreased since Trump’s inauguration, largely because the government is still operating under a stopgap funding bill, which expires at the end of April. Solicitations should start being released at a healthy clip again once the FY 2017 appropriations talks restart. However, it is hard to tell whether deep cuts could be in the offing. Grant seekers should keep in mind that Republicans don’t have a complete control of Congress. Unlike private grants, which have a larger application window, federal grants have a short application period and grant writers must move swiftly to qualify, apply for and win these grants.

Join this session by expert speaker Frank Klimko who will provide the concrete information on the direction of federal funding this year and beyond, and will offer the hidden details.
