Congress gave a green light to a second continuing resolution extending government spending through Dec. 22 and averting a government shutdown for the time being. The move will keep lawmakers in Washington well beyond their intended holiday timetable. The House 235-193 vote included support from 14 Democrats and rejection from 18 Republicans.
